Name: Tyler Thomas Nickname(s): "Pino", "Big Peen" Position: Defensive End Favorite Player: Jacory Harris ( University of Miami QB) Role Model: Grandfather Football Goals: Go undefeated in 2010; Play in college Future Goals: Attend a 4-year university What does Easton Football mean to you?: "Easton Football means TRADITION. Every time you step foot out of the locker room and on to the field at Cottingham Stadium is an incomparable feeling." Tyler Thomas is the dependable, play-making Defensive End for the Rovers. Having started for two seasons already, Tyler is a veteran when it comes to knowing what it takes to be competitive in the Lehigh Valley Conference. His work-ethic and dedication are an ideal model for his teammates. In 2010, Tyler will be counted on to be a leader on the field, in the weight room, and in the locker room for the Rovers. Congratulations Tyler on being named an IRON ROVER! MIDDLE SCHOOL FOOTBALL PLAYERS RAISE MONEY TO FIGHT PEDIATRIC CANCER!
On Friday, March 5, 2010 more than a dozen 7th and 8th grade football players participated in a Mini-THON at Easton Area Middle School 7/8. The Dance Marathon was a smaller version of the THON held at Penn State University annually, and like the larger version helped to raise money for the Four Diamonds Fund which assists families in treatment for pediatric cancer at the Hershey Medical Center. In addition to the players participating, many of their teammates and Coaches Baltz and Stroble came by to encourage the participants and keep them company during the THON. Overall, EAMS's Mini-THON raised well in excess of $10,000 to fight pediatric cancer. FTK! Great Job EAMS and Easton Middle School Football! The Easton Football Family is proud of you! GADDY AND PANKEY SELECTED TO PLAY IN PSFCA EAST-WEST GAME!
SR. DB's Jashaad Gaddy and Kadeem Panky were recently selected by the Pennsylvania State Football Coaches' Association to participate in the PSFCA East-West All-Star Football Game in Altoona this June. The game pits All-Star Senior football players from the Eastern half of Pennsylvania versus All-Stars from the Western portion of the state. SEAN MACDOUGALL NOMINATED FOR NATIONAL FOOTBALL FOUNDATION -LEHIGH VALLEY CHAPTER SCHOLAR-ATHLETE!
In recognition of his efforts over the last 4 years both in the classroom and on the football field, Senior OL/DL Sean MacDougall is this year's Easton Area High School nominee for National Football Foundation Lehigh Valley Scholar-Athlete. Congratulations Sean! 3 ROVERS NAMED TO PFN ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM! The Pennsylvania Football News recently announced their All-Academic team selections for the 2009 season. Three Rovers were selected to the team. Sr. RB Kyle Smith and Jr. OL Ben Lorigan were selected to the Gold Team. Lorigan is currently ranked #1 in the graduating class of 2011. Sr. OL/DL Sean MacDougall was selected to the Silver Team. Congratulations Rover Student-Athletes! CONGRATULATIONS 2009 RED ROVERS AND COACH STEVE SHIFFERT! THE MORNING CALL'S TEAM OF THE YEAR! (Photo from The Express-Times) Congratulations to the 2009 Easton Red Rovers on being named Football Team of the Year by The Morning Call and to Coach Steve Shiffert on being named 2009 Football Coach of the Year by The Express-Times, The Morning Call, the National Football Foundation-Lehigh Valley Chapter, and the Pennsylvania State Football Coaches' Association-District XI. This is the third time Coach Shiffert has been chosen for the Express's award. The previous seasons were 2004 and 1993. Overall, this is the sixth time an Easton coach has been chosen for the Express-Times' distinction in football. On Friday, March 5, 2010, Coach Shiffert was also chosen as the 2010 winner of John Whitehead Award for Promoting High School Football by the Nike Coach of the Year Clinic (Eastern PA).
